Good morning all
I checked the blog this morning and noted that the photographs don't seem to have been attached, therefore I am trying again and hope my efforts are not in vain.
Thanks to those who made comments - I am inspired by your encouragement and will continue with my "travel guide" posts whilst ever they remain of interest. I will include issues such as costs and addresses for the information of anyone who may wish to travel over here or have an interest in the daily cost of living.
As an example, our own internet connection is a bit slow (using my lap top and a 3G enabled PCMCIA card) so we checked with our hotel and they charge internet use at the rate of £3 per 15 mins. We then walked around the corner to an internet cafe and costs there are £1 for 95 mins!! It really does pay to shop around and I guess this applies for all things really.
Whilst in Portobello Road the other day, Jane and I had a look at a butcher shop and sirloin steak was £29 per kilo. Makes you appreciate living in a country where beef is readily available at an affordable cost rather than as a "treat".
Anyway, enough of that. Will post again in the next day or two when we have more adventures to discuss and more thrills to share (provided those "little legs" can keep up with me!)
Cheers to all (oh no - even starting to sound like a local)
Rick and Jane.
HI Rick & Jane
ReplyDeleteI am sorry i have not contacted you both earlier. I was virtually gobsmacked, My mouth wide open as I read your journal from day one to the 22.4.09 in one long session. I felt we were following you around and seeing it literally through both of you.
Rick - you are and have always been an excellent author.
Jane/ Rick this is an excellent idea - your families will really appreciate the fact that you are contacting them all , daily through this blog.
May God & Budha keep you both safe and happy.
All our love -
Mario & Carmen xxxooo
PS: I am a little confused with how to post this comment - I hope you get it !
Hi Jane & Rick
ReplyDeleteAgain - this is fantastic reading - I hang on every sentance with a grin wrapped from ear to ear. It was Dads Birthday yesterday, so we went and saw him - I explained your Journals to him and promised I would print out the full 222 pages for them to read - I also told them if they would like to comment to phone me and I would type up a comment for them on their behalf - Heaven forbid that they should ever see the sight of a keyboard - Dad still cant believe you are only spending a couple of days in the lido di fermo - As I explained to him you cant do the whole of Europe in 3 months and spend untold time in Fermo - they may do so on their next trip - hey!!! they are in top spirits and I must say that having "Jimmy" there appears to have made them much healthier looking and happier - mind you Jimmy is lapping it up !
Bye for now - keep having a wonderful time
Luv to you both always
Carmen & Mario
xxxx000
PS: i give your blog address to everyone I speak to - its such enthralling reading - instead of a novel I go to bed with Rick and Jane - thats a new slant on life !
